This impressive-looking machine is a Bijou 5 portable typewriter, an uncommon QWERTY version of the Erika 5. Manufactured in 1939 by Seidel & Naumann in Dresden, Germany, Bijou was an export label used by the company to rename their Erika typewriters for the UK (in fact, there is a small "Foreign" decal below the "Bijou" decal at the front of the ribbon cover). Being a Seidel & Naumann machine, it offers an excellent typing experience, made even better by a professionally recovered platen and new feed rollers.
